We identify ourselves as a class when we all wear the same uniform. Uniforms help us to develop teamwork skills that we need to be successful in this field and help keep ourselves and others safe. Students will NOT be allowed to work in the lab on days that the grooming & dress code requirements are not met.  Students that are ill will be excused from lab and not be allowed in the kitchen. However, even if the student is ill, they still need to come dressed to participate if they are at school.  If the student does not comply with the grooming standards or dress code a zero will be given for that particular lab.

The approved uniform consists of:

  • Class T-Shirt (included as part of Lab Fee) or Chef Coat
  • Close toed work shoes. (No slippers or open toed shoes will be allowed in the kitchen. This includes crocks with holes).
  • Hat (example: baseball cap or visor), Hairnet or Bandana (to cover your hair)
  • Black work pants or jeans (NO tears or holes and NO leggings, joggers, sweatpants, sports wear, or shorts.)
  • In addition to the uniform, the following grooming requirements are mandatory for lab days:
    • Hair must be tied back, fingernails must be kept short and clean (no pointy nails or ornamental designs on the nails),
    • No jewelry like bracelets, watches or rings are permitted.
    • No perfumes or body sprays are to be used in the kitchen.
