Staffer Responsibilities

  • Download the Trello app to your phone and set it to receive notifications
  • Subscribe to all applicable story cards, so you will receive notifications when anything changes on that card
  • Add attachments for research
  • Add Google Doc attachment when submitting a story for editing
  • Tag editors in comments
  • Comment every time your story needs to be edited by an editor or you need to communicate with an editor
  • Move cards along in the list during the researching/interviewing, and writing phases
  • Ask if you're not sure what's happening with you story. DON'T JUST LET YOUR STORY SIT FOR DAYS - Check in with your editor at least once a day. Check in with them multiple times in a day for a story that is going up on the web on the same day as a news event.

Common Staffer Mistake When Turning in a Story

Many times staffers post a link in Trello to Google Drive Document and then an editor can't edit it.

1. In Google Docs click the share button

2. You will see this screen: CLICK GET SHAREABLE LINK

3. You will see this screen: Change the box so it reads "Anyone with the link can edit"

4. Then copy that link and add it to your story card in Trello.
